The Postgraduate

Taking into account studies in the Environmental Dynamics and Territory concentration area, the UFV Geography Postgraduate Program aims to train and qualify geographers and professionals in related areas, providing them with full mastery of critical analysis and exercise. problems and processes related to geographic knowledge. Furthermore, it aims to favor situations that allow the permanent improvement of academic-scientific and social practices, supporting debates and actions on socio-environmental scenarios, as well as practices and processes of use and appropriation of territory at different spatial scales.

Specific objectives

Stimulate the strengthening of study and research groups in the Zona da Mata region, meeting new social demands for the training of human resources and research practice;

expand bibliographic production around the Program’s lines of research;

expand academic exchanges related to research conducted in the Program;

subsidize public policies for socio-territorial and environmental development;

create discussion spaces (workshops, seminars, symposiums, congresses, round tables, etc.) aimed at the participation of civil society;

favor communication channels between the research carried out in the Program and the teaching of Geography;

qualify professionals to work in higher education and in research and documentation institutions in related areas;

encourage the participatory involvement of Geography undergraduates and postgraduates in research activities;

offer the community subsidies for the development of possible proposals to overcome social limitations, participating in their economic, social and cultural development.
